We focus on one corridor and do it exceptionally well. Designed by and for the Ghanaian community in the United States.

How it works

Enter the amount and your recipient's bank details or mobile money number. Confirm and we'll handle the rest.

A note from the founders

Why we built ZapPay.

"

ZapPay Financial Services was founded by Ghanaian Americans to give the Ghanaian diaspora peace of mind when sending money to family, friends, and loved ones—simply, securely, and transparently.

As Ghanaian immigrants, we’ve heard many stories about stressful transfers sent to the wrong person due to an incorrect phone number or bank account number. In many cases, the sender couldn’t recover the money, leaving them exhausted and helpless.

We know many families face daily challenges, and sending money home can provide vital support. ZapPay makes it simple to send money securely and transparently—with a stress-free, reversible option if you accidentally send it to the wrong recipient.

Our user-friendly digital platform provides real-time answers to common questions. Just Zap It, Done! We handle the rest to ensure your money reaches the right person at the right time and place.

When does ZapPay launch? +
We're working through the regulatory licensing process now. We don't pre-announce specific launch dates because the timeline depends on factors outside our control. Join the waitlist and we'll notify you the moment we're live.
How fast will my money arrive? +
Delivery time depends on how you send. Bank deposit (GCB Bank, Absa Ghana, Ecobank Ghana) is our standard service—recipients typically receive funds in 1–3 business days. For faster delivery, choose our Express service: Mobile Money via MTN MoMo or Telecel Cash credits funds to your recipient's wallet within minutes, for a flat $2.99 additional fee. You'll receive notifications at each stage either way—when your bank debit is processed, when funds are en route to Ghana, and when they're credited to your recipient's account or mobile money wallet.
What does it cost to send money? +
Our pricing is straightforward: a 7% service fee on the amount you send. If you choose our Express service (Mobile Money), a flat $2.99 fee is added for delivery within minutes. Beyond those, there are no other fees—no monthly charges, no membership, no surprise federal tax. For example, sending $100 by bank deposit costs $107 total; the same $100 via Express Mobile Money costs $109.99 total. Your recipient receives approximately 1,097 GHS at the displayed rate either way.
Why don't I see a federal remittance tax? +
Because ZapPay's transfers are funded only via ACH from your U.S. bank account, they qualify for the federal remittance excise tax exemption under IRC §4475(d)(1). You won't see a federal tax line on your transfer. This is one reason we keep our funding architecture simple: ACH only, never cash, cards, or money orders.
Is my money safe? +
Yes. Customer funds are held in a separate trust account at our partner bank, completely segregated from ZapPay's operating funds. We are licensed and bonded as a money services business, and use bank-grade encryption throughout. We're also registered with FinCEN as a Money Services Business.
Who can use ZapPay? +
ZapPay is available to U.S. residents who are 18 years or older, have a U.S. bank account, and are sending personal funds to family or friends in Ghana. Recipients in Ghana don't need a ZapPay account — they just need a bank account at GCB Bank, Absa Ghana, or Ecobank Ghana, or an active MTN Mobile Money or Telecel Cash number.
How do I pay for transfers? +
ZapPay funds transfers through ACH debit from your linked U.S. bank account. We don't accept debit cards, credit cards, wire transfers, cash, money orders, or cashier's checks. Your bank account is verified securely—we never see your bank login credentials.
What are the transfer limits? +
At launch, individual transfers must be between $30 and $500. The daily limit is $1,000 per customer, and the rolling 30-day limit is $3,000 per customer. We've kept limits modest at launch to operate within a clear, well-managed product. Limits may increase as our service matures.
What if I need to cancel a transfer? +
You can cancel any transfer for a full refund within 30 minutes of confirming, as long as the funds haven't yet been delivered to your recipient. After 30 minutes, cancellation may still be possible depending on where your transfer is in the process. We'll always do our best to assist.
